Government-owned telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is reportedly in talks with Vodafone India which has just been renamed Vi for the Intra Circle 4G Roaming (ICR) pacts. In return, Vi would have required 10,000 kilometers of fiber connectivity. As of now, telecommunications are focusing on two circles, most notably on Rajasthan. Gradually, nationwide agreements for ICR pacts will be made in a similar way, according to reports.
Currently, BSNL customers can activate Vi roaming in the Delhi NCR region by sending an activation SMS via their mobile phone. As the BSNL network is not available in Delhi, users can opt for roaming services from Vi by sending ACT ROAM to 53333. Customers must further manually select Vi or MTNL networks after SMS activation, Kerala Telecom noted. In addition, all roaming calls are charged in Vi Roaming when the customer confirms.
Inbound roaming voice calls are priced at 45 paise per minute for both postpaid and prepaid users. Outgoing roaming voice calls cost 80 paise per minute, while STD outgoing calls cost Rs 1.15 per minute. Local SMS will cost 25 paise per minute while STD SMS will cost 38 paise per minute.
BSNL customers should also note that STV data will not be available on the Vi roaming network. The data costs for inter circle roaming with Vi for a BSNL client are 25 paise per 10 KB. No STV data or add-ons will work for roaming BSNL postpaid mobile customers in Delhi.
BSNL plans to provide its mobile and fixed services to users in Delhi and Mumbai. The telecommunications company hopes to generate revenue from metropolitan city customers as it could start services on January 1. The details of the rate are unclear at the moment, but the subscription and top-up plans may end up being the same as what MTNL charges right now. .
BSNL also announced that all future mobile phones released by phone manufacturers will support BSNL 4G VoLTE services by default. According to reports, all major cell phone manufacturers have ensured that they will include binaries to support BSNL 4G VoLTE services in their future models. Samsung, Xiaomi (Mi), One Plus, VIVO, Motorola, OPPO, Lenovo, ASUS, Realme, Huawei, Honor, LG etc phones will be supported by BSNL’s 4G VoLTE.
