Bill Gates “Neutral” on Bitcoin, supports digital currencies

Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates said he has a “neutral view” on bitcoin, but supports the digitization of money as a way to reduce transaction costs.

Speaking in an interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box, Gates said he has a neutral view of bitcoin. He revealed that he does not own any bitcoins and that he does not short-circuit the cryptoasset.

Gates, who recently published a book on preventing global climate change, has led the Gates Foundation alongside his wife Melinda since leaving Microsoft. He explained that the Foundation was working to create greater transparency with the money and overrule the allegations, rather than protecting anonymity.
