Chip maker AMD has announced its much anticipated Ryzen 5000 series desktop processors. The first chips to utilize the company’s next-generation Zen 3 architecture, the new 5000 series chips promise huge performance improvements over their predecessors. As part of the series, the company has launched multiple CPUs, one of which is the 5900X processor, which according to AMD is the “best gaming CPU in the world”.

“Offering up to 16 cores, 32 threads, and 72MB of cache in the flagship AMD Ryzen 9 5950X range, AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors dominate in power-efficient, thread-heavy workloads, while the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor delivers up to a 26% generational increase in gaming performance. “

AMD announced that the new processors will be available at a starting price of $ 299 for the Ryzen 5 5600X entry-level model on November 5th.

It is claimed that the new Ryzen 5000 series CPUs will feature a “19% increase in CPI over the previous generation in PC workloads.” This according to the company helps the “Zen 3” architecture push gaming and content creation performance to the next level.

As for processors, the top-of-the-line 16-core, 32-thread AMD Ryzen 9 5950X delivers “the highest single-thread performance of any desktop gaming processor” and also the “best multi-core performance of any desktop gaming processor. and any desktop processor in a mainstream CPU socket.

The cheaper Ryzen 9 5900X comes with 12 cores and 24 threads. It promises to improve average gaming performance on 1080p titles by up to 7%. However, AMD says some titles will see greater gains, with the average FPS improvement hitting 26% when playing at 1080p.

The Ryzen 5000 chip series will go directly against the 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake CPUs and the upcoming 11th Gen Rocket Lake chips. The latter has already been speculated to support features like PCIe 4.0 and also bring much higher performance due to an improved architecture that will form the basis of the new Intel CPUs.

Under the series, the company has launched more CPUs, including the 5900X processor, which AMD says is the best gaming CPU in the world.
