Amazon announced that it has partnered with IRCTC to offer a rail ticket booking service on Amazon’s Android and iOS apps. Through the same app, users will also be able to see PNR status and manage their booking, the company said.

First time users will also receive a refund of up to Rs 100 on their first train ticket booked through Amazon. Train ticket reservations will be possible on the Amazon Pay tab in the app, Amazon India said.

If you book your train tickets through Amazon, you will receive up to 10% discount on your first booking. However, if you are an Amazon Prime member, you will receive up to 12% off your first booking. The offer is valid for a limited time only. As part of the introductory offer, Amazon has waived the transaction costs of the service and payment gateway.

Speaking about the new feature, Vikas Bansal, Director of Amazon Pay, said: “We are thrilled to partner with IRCTC and take another step in making life easy and convenient for our customers. Last year, we launched booking of flights and bus tickets on Amazon. With the ability to book reserved train tickets on our platform, we are enabling you to travel in any mode your customers prefer. “

In addition to booking train tickets on Amazon, users will also be able to check the availability of seats and quotas for all train classes on the Amazon app on their Android and iOS devices. They can also check PNR status in real time for tickets booked through Amazon.

Users can also add Amazon Pay money to make payment directly through the app, this would make the process faster and more convenient. Customers who pay using Amazon Pay will also receive an immediate refund in case of cancellations or booking errors. Tickets can be canceled in the “Your Orders” section on the app. They can also seek 24/7 support via an Amazon helpline via phone and chat.

In early 2019, Amazon had introduced flight bookings to India. The e-commerce platform had partnered with a travel website, Cleartrip, to make the service available. The service is available on the Amazon app.

Amazon has partnered with IRCTC to allow users to book train tickets on the Amazon Android and iOS apps. Through the same app, users will also be able to see the PNR status and manage the booking.
