Airtel is reportedly offering an Amazon Prime subscription with an upgrade to its more basic broadband plans which offer speeds of 40mbps and 100mbps. Airtel’s broadband plans which were priced at Rs 499 and Rs 799 have now been upgraded to Rs 589 and Rs 943 to include the Amazon Prime subscription.

Previously, Airtel’s broadband plans starting at Rs 999 with speeds of over 200mbps offered OTT perks including Zee5 subscription and Amazon Prime.

The development was first noticed by Only Tech which cited select Airtel broadband users who noticed the addition on the Airtel Thanks app.

The change has not been reflected on the Thanks website or app and is only visible to selected users. According to the report, the Amazon Prime benefit is only offered on plans that are reviewed each month and is not applicable for half-yearly or annual purchases. Revised bundle deals are likely to be visible first for Airtel’s regular broadband users.

The benefits offered by the most basic Airtel broadband plans are speeds of up to 40 Mbps, unlimited internet and calls – local and STD, subscription to Airtel XStream, Wynk Music, Shaw Academy and other benefits.

For the Rs 799 plan, which has reportedly been upgraded to Rs 943, the speeds offered by Airtel are up to 100mbps with unlimited calling and internet and the same additional benefits.

The development has perhaps been led to counter JioFiber plans which start at Rs 399 and offer Amazon Prime membership from its most basic plans for an additional Rs 99.

Airtel Thanks Users in select regions have also noticed a postpaid plan at Rs 399 with 40GB of data at 3G or 4G speeds along with unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day. The postpaid Rs 399 plan also offers an included Airtel Xstream Premium subscription for one year in addition to Wynk Music and Shaw Academy subscriptions. Customers will also receive free Hellotunes and a cashback of Rs 150 on FASTag transactions.

The upgraded broadband plans are reportedly priced at Rs 589 and Rs 943 and offer a bundled Amazon Prime subscription.
