AirAsiis aiming to launch flying taxi business in 2022, says CEO

The Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia Group Bhd. He said he is looking to launch a flying taxi business as early as next year.

“We are working on it right now,” said Tony Fernandes, CEO and co-founder of the company, on Saturday. “I think we’re about a year and a half apart from launch. ”

Fernandes was speaking in an online discussion within the Youth Economic Forum.

With the airline business taking a hit from coronavirus pandemic, AirAsia is expanding into the digital space. Last year it launched a “super app” that offers services from travel and shopping to logistics and financial services.
