Neighbors told deputies they’d heard a man screaming that his wife shot herself, after they’d heard a disturbance and gunshot. The argument was about text messages on the man’s phone, leading to a physical confrontation before the shooting, according to authorities.

Authorities say a Harris County man faces a murder charge in the deadly shooting of his wife after the two got into an argument about text messages on his phone. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said Dabreon Banks and his wife were arguing at an apartment complex in the 6200 block of East Sam Houston Parkway when she was shot at 11 p.m. The 24-year-old woman has yet to be named by authorities.
