4 motocross bikes totaling over $ 40k stolen from Windham business

Four dirt bikes worth more than $40,000 total were stolen from a Windham business early in the morning on New Year’s Day.

Highlights

  • According to police, surveillance video from the business shows at 4:22 a.m., five men wearing hoods and masks walked up to the front of the business on Range Road, and then started smashing the window with rocks until there was a hole. Three men went inside the business while two others went the northern entrance of the building.

  • Windham police said they responded to Nault’s Powersports around 4:25 a.m. on Saturday morning after getting an alarm for the location.

According to police, one of the suspects also took five helmets from the second floor.

Surveillance video from inside show the men entering, with one of them carrying bolt cutters. They then started to cut the cable that was securing several dirt bikes, police said. Once they were free, they were wheeled out. Other bikes from the second floor were also taken out of the business.

At about 4:27 a.m., all the suspects left the building, but a minute later, one went back in through the hole in the window to get a pair of bolt cutters left on the floor.

The four bikes were taken out the north entrance and then south Range Road, out of view from surveillance video, police said.

Police said there were six suspects, appearing to be ranging in age from teens to early 20’s involved. Anyone with information that can help with the investigation is asked to contact Windham police, and they are asking those living in the Range Road neighborhood to check their surveillance video for suspicious vehicles or individuals.

This isn’t the first time the business has been burglarized. In May 2021, five dirt bikes worth almost $40,000 were also stolen from the store.
