Nintendo Switch Online Surprise offers subscribers additional benefits

  • Users of the Nintendo Switch who have already signed up for the company’s top-tier online service, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, will soon benefit from a number of new features. These one-time offers, which begin on November 1st, were unexpectedly added to the service’s already existing perks by Nintendo this week. Along with various emblems evocative of the Nintendo 64 period, this also provides double gold points spent on eligible games and his DLC.

As with some of these announcements, players first learned about these additional perks through several posts on the Nintendo Japan website, but the benefits were later confirmed in other regions as well. America’s Twitter account tweeted this weekend to confirm what the offer is and when it will start. That tweet also gave previews of Nintendo 64 icons coming in November, including the console and controller itself, Mario Kart, Star Fox, Kirby, and other memorable characters and games.

It’s not yet known what this deal is or isn’t for, as Nintendo hasn’t specified what a “qualifying digital game or DLC” looks like. However, with Nintendo having some high-profile releases in the pipeline, subscribers can earn Double Gold his points by purchasing Bayonetta 3, Pokemon Sword, Pokemon Shield, and more.

The offer also applies to the UK, but the promotion states that the user will receive double Gold Points on all purchases on the Nintendo eShop, not just partial purchases. But again, if you want to buy something new from the eShop, don’t worry too much about entitlements.
